The outage will take place from 8-10 in the morning at sunday the 13th of March.
Please note that Elsevier have two scheduled outages that will affect ScienceDirect and Scopus (Sciverse). The products are expected to be offline and unavailable for approximately 4 hours on November 7th (8-12 o’clock) and 6 hours on November 13th (14-20 o’clock). During this time, upgrades will be implemented and maintenance performed.
SciVerse is now a reality… but the big melt between Scopus og ScienceDirect has not happen so far. Over time they will melt closer together but for now the SciVerse home page is just the first step to something greater in the future.
During this time, upgrades will be implemented to ScienceDirect and Scopus as part of the launch of the new SciVerse platform. The down time might be shorter – or might be longer… the down time is appromimatly 9 hours.
Elsevier is the publisher behind the platform ScienceDirect, the database Scopus and the search engine Scirus. These 3 products are all very strong brands within the scientific world, but Elsevier has determined never the less to end the life of them as single products. Instead they are introducing SciVerse which will be a combination of the 3 products plus more. They will break down barriers between publisher, librarians, researchers and developers… be more flexible in the way content and information can be delivered. There is not much to see at SciVerse. Therefore Elsevier has made this little 5 min. video that tries to explain why and how.. I do not think posting is going to be the last about this change….
